A young friend of mine just celebrated his thirtieth birthday. I was thirty once and then I turned around and now, well now I'm... just never you mind how old I am.
I play well with others. I have quite a few friends, people I like to spend time with and people who like to spend time with me. With that said however I think that in my whole life I have had only five or six really close friends that know me intimately and I them.
So tell me why is that in the last ten to fifteen years have I not been in close contact with any of them. I think of them often. I pray for them and wish the best for their families.
I know that no matter what happened I could call any of them and they would drop what they were doing and be there without any questions asked.
Within the last week, I have been in contact with two the these special old friends. One because of a death and the other because of the birth of a grandson. I talked to both on the telephone for over 30 minutes, after catching up on our life events, it was like speaking to them as if very little time had past since our last conversations.
So what is this blog about? If nothing else this blog is about friendship and how time and miles cannot sever the relationship or damper the love. As for my New Years Resolution, I will be contacting my special old friends, (you know who you are) just to say hey, whats up and I love you. If your reading this and you have no idea in the world as to who I am, well then call an old friend or two and say hi.
